Chronic pain is just one of the many symptoms of fibromyalgia in the body at any time, but for me it is the most common. Pain affects every aspect of my life. Payment for all physical activity that I do; Even the smallest task can cause an increase in my symptoms.
The pain of fibromyalgia is unique because of its severity, complexity and multiple systems. There are three main types of pain related to fibromyalgia: hyperalgesia, allodynia and paresthesia.
Hyperalgesia literally translates into excessive pain: “hyper” means “excess” and “algesia” means pain. It is the medical term for intensifying pain in fibromyalgia.
Allodynia is the pain that you feel when it touches your skin. For example, a slight pressure on the clothing or a gentle massage causes pain or a gentle breeze on the skin. Hypersensitivity to stimuli usually does not cause pain.
Paresthesia is the strange nervousness that resembles something that creeps, ants, burns, itching or numbness, as an insensitive point in the middle of the foot or a burning sensation in the back.
But to be honest, those words have little meaning for those who do not have fibromyalgia. I will describe the pain that I feel so that everyone can understand it, to give to people without the impression of what it is like to live with this painful and debilitating disease.
1. burnt skin
Sometimes my skin is on fire, raw. Imagine spending hours in the sun without protecting the skin. Then you dive into the sea and the salt water burns the damaged skin. So dress up to go out at night and rub your clothes over your raw skin. When you suffer from fibromyalgia, clothing can only cause this pain, sunlight is not necessary.
2. hot / burning pain
It is a pain that I find particularly difficult to bear. It is so bad that it takes my breath away. It is like a warm blanket that goes into my body and can happen anywhere and anytime. The pain comes in waves and is accompanied by nausea.
3. Joint pain
My joint pain is a throbbing, throbbing pain. This mainly affects my knees, but it can also affect other areas.
4. muscle pain
My muscles are constantly hurting me. The smallest activity ensures that they vibrate and burn. I find it impossible to feel at ease when my muscles hurt, it makes me so excited.
5. Muscle spasms and spasms
I feel muscle spasms and spasms every day, they are almost constant. It is as if you are not controlling your body, as if an unexpected force is manipulating you.
This is a strange symptom that I find difficult to describe. It sounds like an electric shock, a zap that starts at the base of my skull, then moves to the top of my head and reaches the tip of my fingers. It only takes a second at a time, but my entire body is shocked.
7. thorny sensation
Have you ever had a rash of heat after spending a lot of time in the sun? That is what we feel. Pain, burning and itching
8. acute pain
You feel that someone is using you as a voodoo doll.
9. A cross between itching and throbbing pain
I’m sure that’s a technical term for that, but ‘a cross between itch and a sting’ is the best way to describe it. It happens deep in my muscles and it is impossible to itch itching. This also causes excitation in the part of my affected body.
10. feeling of injury
Not only on the skin, but also on the inside, you feel bruised and sensitive. Usually my chest and ribs are bruised, which makes breathing more difficult. On some days it seems like you have spent 10 rounds in a boxing ring.
11. Feeling of migraine throughout the body
When I am hypersensitive and numb, I feel a migraine all over my body, I feel raw. The slightest touch or movement causes throbbing pain around my body.
Imagine that a healthy person goes to the gym after months of inactivity. They lift weights and have a full body workout. The next day they feel stiff and cracked and they have difficulty moving. A person with fibro wakes up every morning with this feeling. It seems that I wear a monkey under my skin, two smaller sizes.
13. radiating pain
I feel you from this point. The pain can start in my back, but he also moves along my legs, for example. Pain caused by touch Even the slightest contact with a loved one can cause pain. I have to wear clothes that are two sizes too big, make very large planes and I have to cut my hair because it causes a lot of skin pain. Touching causes many types of pain that I have described. Migraine / headache I do not think a day goes without a headache, it may be dueear stress and hormones. If they attack, I am incapacitated for work. I lose sight and the pain is so intense. You have the impression that your head is I wear a helmet that constantly presses. The slightest movement, contact or sound hurts my head and my face. Creeping skin You have the impression that thousands of insects are running through your skin. Actually it is pretty scary. Hypersensitivity On some days the sound appears to be on a brick wall. In an instant he feels pain, nausea, dizziness, trembling and a threatening panic attack. But I do not just make noise, I’m also too sensitive to smell, light and touches. Yes, a strong perfume smell can cause pain. Fibromyalgia is often accompanied by additional diseases, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS or SCI). Contrary to popular belief, IBS pain not only occurs in the gut, but also radiates to other parts of the body, especially the back. It is sharp and burning pain. The wind trapped in an already inflamed bowel is one of the most painful symptoms of IBS, it is overwhelming: pain is not the only symptom of fibromyalgia, but it is the symptom that has the greatest negative impact on my life and my health. . Some of my colleagues with fibromyalgia and chronic pain want to add a kind of pain?
