Fibromyalgia symptoms eased by wearing device, a study has found

Fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes extreme pain across the entire body, according to the NHS.It is caused by changes in the way the body processes pain signals around the body. There’s currently no cure for fibromyalgia, although some treatments could help to relieve painful symptoms.

And now a wearable device, Quell, has been found to provide significant relief to those with chronic pain, including fibromyalgia.

Researchers found Quell lessens pain interference with activity and mood, concluding the device is useful for helping to reduce chronic pain throughout the body.

Shai N. Gozani, MD, PhD, president and CEO of NeuroMetrix, said: “We are pleased that the results of this large, real-world study of Quell effectiveness has been published.“The findings confirm that Quell provides valuable incremental pain relief to many individuals with chronic pain.”The study, entitled “Effectiveness of fixed-site high-frequency transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in chronic pain: a large-scale, observational study” was published in the Journal of Pain Research.Researchers tracked 713 Quell users who agreed to have their usage and data monitored for 60 days.
